Oklahoma Academic Standards

  Pass Skills Grade 4 Std 1Compare and/or contrast similar and/or different characteristics (e.g., color, shape, size, texture, sound, position, change) in a given set of objects organisms or events.  
Grade 4 operations and algebraic thinking 4.oa Generate and analyze patterns. 5. Generate a number or shape pattern that follows a given rule. Identify apparent features of the pattern that were not explicit in the rule itself. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 1, generate terms in the resulting sequence and observe that the terms appear to alternate between odd and even numbers.  
Grade 4 Research to Build and Present Knowledge 9. Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research. a. Apply grade 4 Reading standards to literature (e.g., “Describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text [e.g., a character’s thoughts, words, or actions].”). b. Apply grade 4 Reading standards to informational texts (e.g., “Explain how an author uses reasons and evidence.")

Bloom's Questions

  • Define five new terms.
  • Classify which plants and animals belong in which part of the ocean.
  • Students will apply their knowledge to predict patterns.
  • Why can we float easier in saltwater than freshwater?
  • Pick your favorite ocean animal and in a paragraph explain why.
  • As a class create a wall mural with your favorite ocean animal.

 

Student Objective

Students will be able to define new terms about the Ocean’s Ecosystem.  They should be able to classify which plants and animals are in specific areas of the ocean.  Student’s should be able to follow and predict patterns.
